Find an Old Friend
People grow apart and fall out of touch. It just happens. Sometimes it can be spurred by a meaningless argument or feud that eventually leads to both parties no longer speaking. Maybe it was two friends in a tight-knit group that got into a quarrel over a girl. The scenarios could be truly endless. The general point here is that over the course of one’s life it happens. You could have changed schools or your parents moved when you were a kid. As a result you lost touch with a childhood friend. Then you go to high school and start making acquaintances all over again. Four years later you are all going off to different colleges all around the country. Communication dwindles yet again and old high school friends lose touch.
This cycle will continue on for the course of one’s life. It has been theorized that the average human mind can actually only sustain about 150 social relationships at one time (Often referred to as Dunbar’s number). This dynamic cycle of forging new contacts and friends while neglecting others is not something that is normally paid attention to. It is an inadvertent action that is caused by the stresses and schedules of the busy lives we lead.
This simply means we need to find an old friend from time to time. Reconnecting with old friends is a truly exciting thing. Catching up after years, hearing about jobs held, old loves, families, and possibly even seeing each other again is a gem of an experience. Not only that you may be able to rekindle an old friendship. A simple people search could be what you need to get the process started.
